This is my first post here and I have a burning issue with SolarMD configuration, causing me headaches!
I started off with a 7.4 SolarMD and my system was running perfectly. I needed more storage and was able to sell the 7.4 and bought a 14.3 Kw - Happy as can be... I thought. (Bear in mind - Same Logger, same inverter ONLY Battery with BMS replaced)
After hanging the new HEAVY battery on the wall the commissioning I thought would be a breeze.... The installer that bought the 7.4 from me did not have SMA config experience and connected the new battery to the best of their knowledge (Said with ALL due respect).
This was where my problems started .. When the battery reaches 100% State of Charge and the MAINS BREAKER is ON, my system feeds 6000 Watts from the battery and ALL PV generated power minus home consumption. (Mome Manger 2 setting is max 5000 Watts, max that I am allowed to feedback) The only way I can stop that is to switch the MAINS breaker OFF.
The other problem I experience is that the system will charge 6000 Watts regardless of my input limit set by the Home Manager2.
SolarMD confirmed setup is correct. I assisted with images of patch cable connections - They do not know anything about SMA. and blame SMA for the fault.
SMA installer replaced the firmware - re-commissioned the battery with the correct parameters, and configured it like other similar systems - But the problems persist - They do not know the SolarMD, and blame SolarMD
Sounds like the HomeManger is faulty:- Got a commitment from a supplier, that if I buy the HM2 and it does not resolve the issue they will take it back and refund me. Awesome let us try it. Installed configured and still does the same.
So where I stand now:- I have to wait till 23h00 in the evening, switch on the MAINS Breaker and Eagle Eye watch for the battery to reach 60% SOC and switch off the breaker and go to sleep. (That SOC gives me just enough to take me through the night till morning with 25 - 30 % SOC.
Trawling the web for images of installers that installed SMA with Solar MD and proudly posted their photo was my only hope!!
After sending a few emails begging for help a good samaritan emailed me and checked in with Service SMA South Africa.
It now appears that the battery is not configured/connected/commissioned correctly.
I have installer access to all SMA components.
I am looking for some help from an installer/SMA/SolarMD to update the configuration on the SolarMD to fix this problem.
Is there ANY installer with Experience in Installing and configuring a SolarMD 14.3 Kw batter to work with an SMA SunnyIsland 8.0H-12
Please help me out here!
